Born on May 8, 1958, in Génave, Andalusia, Aurelio Rodríguez López is a Spanish artist whose career spans more than four decades. From an early age, he showed a passion for art, which he deepened over the years. Initially trained in Madrid, he soon decided to devote himself entirely to his artistic calling, exploring various techniques—such as oil painting—before specializing in soft pastel, his medium of choice. This decision marked the beginning of a relentless quest for artistic expression and refinement.
Aurelio has developed a unique style, blending realism and emotion, which has earned him international recognition. His works, often imbued with poetry and sensitivity, captivate viewers with their technical precision and emotional depth. He currently lives near Málaga, where he continues to create and inspire many artists around the world.

Beyond his artistic career, Aurelio Rodríguez López is also a dedicated teacher, sharing his expertise in soft pastel around the world. He regularly leads workshops and masterclasses in China, Spain, Mexico, France, and other countries, attracting students eager to learn the subtleties of hyperrealism. In France, he notably teaches at St Aulaye during the Pastel Salon in Périgord and in Montignac-Lascaux during workshops organized by Pastels Girault. He conducts intensive workshops focused on hyperrealistic portraiture and still lifes, offering participants a complete immersion in his technique and artistic vision.
His teaching approach is praised for its clarity and generosity, enabling students of all levels to advance in mastering soft pastel. Aurelio emphasizes the importance of drawing as well as observation as the foundation of every successful artwork, guiding his students through each step of the creative process.
